Die Old Kilbeggan Distillery wurde 1757 gegründet und ist damit die älteste lizenzierte Destillerie der Welt.
Sie schloss zwar 1953, öffnete aber 2007 wieder und brennt seitdem mit zwei kleinen Pot Stills.
Sie wurde in den späten 80ern von der Cooley Distillery aufgekauft.
Cooley wurde hingegen im Dezember 2011 für knapp 100 Millionen USD von Jim Beam aufgekauft.
Im Frühjahr 2014 wurde Jim Beam wiederum für 13,6 Milliarden USD vom japanischen Getränkehersteller Suntory erworben, wodurch das Tocherunternehmen Beam Suntory entstand.
